PAINT/PREP
DEPARTMENT

Paint artists are required to remove unwanted artifacts, reconstruct a background or digitally correct a render or composite.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Exceptional skill in at least one paint software (Ex. Photoshop, Nuke , etc.)
  • Candidates with experience in Plate Creation, Marker removal, Wire rig removal, matte painting and all Artifact clean- up.
  • Handle difficult to extremely difficult paint tasks within a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Nuke paint scripts for issues when they arise.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge in camera projection, color and grain structures with the ability to match saturation, hues and black points from multiple sources.
  • Able to break shots down into individual components with little supervision.
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Must have a willingness to learn new tools, a proven ability to be detail-oriented, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to work efficiently within a production environment.
  • Completes the allotted project within the given man days as per client requirements and maintaining quality standards set by the company.
  • Should be able to take ownership of the project and complete the same before the deadline.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

0-5 Years

Team leads focus on the work allotted to them and their team. They will interact primarily with the producer and department supervisor during bids, and additional interaction exists with the production coordinator and production manager as needed. They delegate their workload to various artists based on their seniority and competencies.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Creating and maintaining a strong, reliable, efficient pipeline
  • Review and coach artists’ work
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the teams
  • Act as a bridge between the artists and the various teams
  • In conjunction with the studio & scheduling team, manage staff
  • Balance creation of final renders for shots with building and or maintaining systems for creating shots
  • Must work within the studio pipeline and publish tools and scripts as prescribed
  • Must follow the creative direction of the production communicated by supervisors
  • Provide the balance of creative requests with the resources available

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent artistic skills
  • Expert knowledge of respective tools and processes
  • Tool building and scripting knowledge an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE:

2+ Years as a Lead
Micro-level daily work management in terms of interacting with team leads and artists. Work with HR to identify human resource requirements. Work with supervisors on manpower utilisation.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Creates a schedule for all phases of production and helps assign artists to the work
  • Helps create and maintain task assignments for the teams; anticipates potential staffing changes based on development or creative shifts through the shot
  • Maintains and publishes information regarding client notes and changes in planned work for Supervisors and artists
  • Provides support to VFX supervisors as needed
  • Helps Producer manage the task assignments and priorities for the teams
  • Manages daily resource utilisation and acts as the primary contact on the production team regarding the allocation of resources
  • Communicates daily with the team regarding changes to priorities, etc.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum 4 years’ visual effects production experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of leading teams as a production manager
  • Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office application

LOCATION:

WORK EXPERIENCE:

12+ Years
Responsible for the work delivered by the department. Establishes, in collaboration with other Department Supervisors and Production Manager, the working methods of his team, taking into account the requirements of the pipeline, both technical/methodological, present and future. Supervises, guides and develops team and acts as mentor of respective specialty.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Build a team for bidding support and hold responsibility
  • Plan and coordinate technical aspects for the show
  • Identify implementable best practices
  • Define competency levels and achieve competency index for the practice
  • Plan and execute knowledge sharing sessions
  • Continuously review and update recruitment tools and training modules
  • Create and manage the repository of show reels for future showcases
  • Identify areas of automation for pipeline efficiency

COMPETENCIES:

  • Thorough understanding of the Pipeline
  • Must have great interpersonal and communications skills
  • Capable of motivating and leading large teams with enthusiasm
  • Calm and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage time and balance priorities
  • Experience with Tactic, an asset
  • Must be available for flexible schedules/shift
